Let's praise a pastor.

This article, from the Dallas Morning News, concerns Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.

Joe Barron, their pastor, was caught in a sting from an officer posing, on line, as a 13 year old.

The chief pastor, Jack Graham, made a statement to the church.

Observe:

  • The chief pastor does not say 'our lawyers have advised us to keep quiet'.

  • He does not say 'we're appointing a committee to investigate this'.

  • He does not say 'the press is out to get us because they hate Christians'.

Nope, he does quite the opposite and I, for one, am willing to applaud him for his statement. This article, by the way, can be found at the website of Prestonwood Baptist Church.

It's nice to know not all church pastors have given in to fear:

Prestonwood Baptist officials confront scandal before it becomes a comedy of errors.

Pastor of Megachurch arrested in sting operation.

Joe Barren, pastor of the 26,000 member megachurch, Prestonwood Baptist, in Texas, was arrested in sting targeting 13 year olds.

He was released on $7,000 bail.

Good thing his church didn't practice polygamy, or dress like extras from Little House on the Prairie, or we'd have to call the ATF on 'em!
